Where To Stay (Best Hotels) - Cotswolds

Whether you’re staying for a weekend or longer, the Cotswolds has long been a (not so secret) getaway of the British for its tranquil villages, adorable honey colored stone cottages, and stylish pubs.

We spent a couple weeks exploring the area and here were some of our favorite hotels in the Cotswolds:

Mallory Court Country House

mallorty court

This English country getaway is full of charm, landscaped gardens, and evokes an aura of pure relaxation.

From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel like you’re in a bygone era with wood paneling, leaded windows, and attentive service. There are cozy sitting nooks scattered throughout the hotel or even better places where you can escape for the afternoon in the spacious gardens.

Rooms are quite comfortable with classic English furnishings, large beds, and complimentary mineral water & fruit. Some of the rooms face the exquisite garden, which makes for a wonderful way to greet the mornings.

You can’t miss the spa as well, which includes a relaxing climate control pool with massage spigots, sauna, steam room, and outdoor hot tub.

For a real treat, make sure to try out the excellent restaurant on site which features dishes inspired by seasonal and local ingredients. It was one of the best meals we had in the Cotswolds and we highly recommend it!

Plum Guide Rentals

For a bit more space and a highly curated selection of apartment rentals, we recommend the listings on Plum Guide. They tend to be a bit on the higher end when it comes to rentals and you can really see the difference in the listings.

Here are some we loved:

Hallelujah - located in Stow-on-the-Wold, this converted church is a unique place that can fit up to 4 adults.

Robins Roost - a beautiful property in Rissington, we love the wall of glass doors that can be opened up to the outdoor.

There are plenty of other beautiful listings on the website, make sure to browse if you want to stay in a certain part of the Cotswolds.

Lygon Arms

This cozy hotel located in the lovely town of Broadway is a former 16th-century coaching inn. As you might expect, it has all the quirks of an antique and old building, which just adds to the charm.

The rooms are full of beautiful decor - think tartan designs, tweed, wool, and leather.

It’s also a great place to hang out during the day due to its cozy tables and chairs scattered everywhere in the common areas.

Lucknam Park

Feel like royalty in this classic hotel steeped in old-school traditions. The rooms are situated in a proper manor house at the end of a long street full of elegant beech trees.

Most of the bedrooms are elegant canopy beds with wooden mahogany furniture everywhere, complete with crackling fireplaces.

There is an equestrian training area on the grounds, so expect to see uniformed riders strutting about on their handsome steeds.

You’ll want to try out their Michelin-starred restaurant on site while the breakfast is quite the formal affair.

Also, don’t miss their award-winning spa which has an extremely large pool area with sauna, steam room, and plenty of places to relax.

Thyme

This beautiful stone manor was renovated to resemble the South of France and is renowned for its cooking school, on-site garden, and in-house Masterchef winner.

If you want to merge a luxurious stay with a culinary experience - Thyme is a great choice as the main restaurant, Ox Barn, is one of the best in the Cotswolds.

No 38 The Park

This cleverly designed boutique hotel in Cheltenham rocks 13 fantastically designed rooms that have beautiful wallpaper, comfortable beds, clawfoot bathtubs, and great views of Pitville Park.

There is a well-stocked honesty bar in the hallway where you can make your own drinks after a long day.

Otherwise, you can head over to the gin bar at No 131 which as over 350 types of gin!

Snowshill Airbnb

For a more local experience, you can stay in the quaint village of Snowshill in this lovely Airbnb hosted by Sue.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and just loved how quiet and tranquil it was. The village is basically just a couple of streets, which is nice to walk around in the mornings with all the birds chirping.

It’s also a great home base to explore the Cotswolds along with great tips from the host Sue.

We enjoyed having a washer/dryer as well since we had been traveling for a month by this time.
